The African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) just concluded a transformative week in Arusha, Tanzania, filled with insightful discussions, strategic planning, and fruitful collaborations. From July 22nd to 26th, accounting professionals and public finance leaders from across Africa gathered to share experiences and chart the path forward. Here are some highlights:
Day 1: Kicked off with powerful talks on adopting accrual-based IPSAS and the latest technical updates in public sector accounting standards.
Day 2: Focused on the pivotal role of Integrated Financial Management Information Systems (IFMIS) and the journey to accrual-based IPSAS implementation, with inspiring country experiences shared.
Day 3: The Executive Committee meeting covered crucial updates, strategic discussions, and committee reports, setting the tone for the association’s future.
Day 4: Detailed the AAAG Strategic Plan 2024-2028, highlighting our goals to advance public finance management across Africa.
Day 5: Delegates enjoyed cultural excursions and networking opportunities, forging stronger bonds for future collaborations.
